Yeh Sambhav Hain (Hindi) – Kiran Bedi

I am planning to write the review of some books, however I could not
do so thinking that I may not justify my review. I lost the plot or I
lost the words to express my feelings.

"Yeh Sambhav Hain" is one of such book. The book is written by Ms.
Kiran Bedi and it is about her time spent in Tihar Jail during her
stint as an In charge of Tihar Jail.

The book is very long almost 350+ pages. The book is divided into
various parts. It starts with Ms. Kiran Bedi's ( punishment )
posting at Tihar Jail. The author has vividly given the states of the
jail when she joined. It shows how bad treatment is given to jail
inmates.

There were challenges, setbacks, irrelevant fights, unnecessary
blocks, non cooperation from other related departments, problems of
water, food, medicines etc.. etc… in front of the in charge of Tihar
Jail.

Step by step with the help of other officers, Ms. Kiran Bedi
transformed the Jail to a place of Meditation. A place known as
Criminal's Bastion changed to some sort of Temple.

Transformation of Tihar Jail got highest recognition worldwide and hot
topic all over India. It shown that a single person with
determination, dedication & hard work can "Make It Happen" – Yeh
Sambhav Hain.

The author has given detailed information and narrated various
incidents however she made sure that it does not falls into self
flattery. She always written and shown the improvement as team work
and never taken all the credit to herself.

As I already said the book was very long and heavy in weight, I read
the same in parts & lost lots of things.

However, I recommend that this book is good for read to experience the
battle of a person for improvement of surroundings.

Nothing is impossible – Everything is Sambhav.

Apni Aatmshakti Ko Pahechano – Robin Sharma - (Hindi Translation of The Saint, The Surfer and The CEO)

Whenever you feel low or want to appear for exams or highly stressed
out, just grab any book which promotes Positive Thinking, Self
Improvement, Secrets of Happiness etc..

It really helps you to realize various things, which you want to hear
or understand. Sometimes such books also draw you out from tension
and allow you to introspect the situation in right perspective.

Recently I was worried and stressed due to latest development at my
work place. I was searching for peace of mind, consolidation of my
thoughts and just to relax my edginess.

My friend lent me the subject book. This book is written in English
by Mr. Robin Sharma, who is famous for his other book "The Monk, who
sold his Ferrari".

I always felt that, in translation, something is missed out, may be
the message, and may be the treatment or flow of story or lack of
proper concept presentation.

This book is very good as far as content is concerned but if I want to
relate myself with the book, I don't think that it serves any purpose.
Even relating the book and the characters, I found something is
missing or inappropriate.

This book narrates the story of a man, who after accident meets his
father (though he learned the same after some time) in hospital. His
father arranges his meeting rather arranges for his training towards
enlightenment path or living in right earnest through 3 persons i.e.
The Saint, The Surfer and The CEO.

With all three people, he has to spend a month and learned the few /
new things about the life and living. The book narrates his days
spent with these 3 persons.

With the saint, he spends his time in his church and learned about the
religion. The Surfer teaches him surfing and living in present. The
lady CEO teaches him how to interact with persons and make their & our
life more beautiful.

The story is interesting but I cannot connect with the writing /
preaching. It is more like fairy tale story with very limited action
and impact.

What would have happened if the main person would have been the girl?
Would the story go the same way?

This makes one more point to discuss – most of the stories of these
types, main character is male. The male forgets his natural style of
living and need to be awakened.

I read that this book in English is best sellers and changed /
transformed the lives. So I will try to read English (original)
version too.

Oh, though my nervousness was still there during & after reading the
book, but somehow this book prompted me to think more about present
than to fear about unknown future.

Everything happens as it should have to be, so forget worries and be
ready for next assignment.

Jotipunj Mahatma Phule (Hindi Book) – Jiyalal Aarya

I like to read biography of great persons.

I know Jyotirao Phule as Jyotiba Phule, who is great social activist
before independence era. He has worked for upliftment of backward
people and women through imparting education. He was fully supported
by his wife Savitrabai Phule.
In the subject book, the author has tried to compile the information
on the great personality and piece by piece created his biography.
Since very less information available, the author has taken creative
liberty to weave the story.

The story of Jyotiba is not only inspiring but it is very shocking for
me. I really surprise the way the caste system was operational in our
country. Only because of foreign rule, the downtrodden were able to
free themselves to agreater extent from the slavery of caste system.

The "untouchables" tag is very depressing and it make people mentally
handicapped and helpless. In the book it is mentioned that some
group of people were not living hygienic way, they wear unwashed
cloths, do not bath regularly, bad sanitation habits and non
cleanliness were their life style. Such group of people were not
allowed to touch waters as they were carrying germs & pollute the
water. However over the period those groups were banned from touching
people / water / anything.

Jyotiba struggled to educate people for cleanliness in living and
knowledge for understanding for better living.

These people were totally dependent upon the upper caste and upper
caste people have taken their undue advantage. Jyotiba was trying to
defeat this notion, make downtrodden people to understand their plight
and fight against injustice.

Going through the narration of story, I just could not believe the
strength of Jyotiba to counter the world with sheer determination and
persistence.

I cannot summaries the story but I can definitely say that this book
is nothing but a great motivational and inspiring thought. After
reading the book it enlightens me with issues our fellow Indians are
still suffering.

Even after Independence and n number of schemes of Government, I
realized that by current system of education, you can only learn to
earn but real education, which Jyotiba wanted to impart was to learn
to live with respect.

Insurance

Dear All,

Let us share some of knowledge about insurance.

Whenever a layman heard about insurance, we will see what is his reaction.

He / she generally relates it to life insurance.

An agent(his / her distant relative), with unending patience and
frequent calls/ requests trying to sell life insurance policy to him.
Agent will try to explain the benefits, riders (some times, agent also
not aware, how it actually work), cash back offers etc.. and will not
leave person till he agrees for a policy.

Person takes policy under obligation or pressure but never understand
the relevance
of insurance and benefits.

Though, I am now discussing general insurance, but mostly people
relates both the insurance as one only.

First we clarify the types of insurance:-

1 - Life insurance
2 - Non Life Insurance (General Insurance)

In India, a company can transact either Life Insurance or General
Insurance. It can not transact both the policies except for micro
insurance.

Therefore since I am working in Non-Life insurance, I will try to
elaborate more on Non Life Insurance aspects.

Non - Life Insurance covers property & liabilities attached to property.

For simple understanding, we will call Non Life Insurance as General Insurance.

General Insurance have "n" number of types of insurance like, Fire
Insurance, Motor Insurance, Marine Insurance, Mediclaim Insurance,
Workmen Compensation Insurance, Hull Insurance, Aviation Insurance
etc..

The companies transacting General Insurance business generally
classifies business in following categoary

1) Fire Insurance
2) Marine Insurance (Marine Cargo & Marine Hull)
3) Miscellaneous Insurance.

Enough for one post, in next post, we will discuss further,

Movie Review - Guess which movie?

Dear All,

This is not a trick but just want to know whether you can guess the film right?

This film was known for its vulgar scenes & story, however contrary it
is a film with tragic and emotional story.

It is a love story of a young boy & girl.

The lead pair fall in love after small quarrle at shopping mall.

The girl, by nature very strong, determined and exactly knows what she
wants. The boy from affulent family having problem with his father.

The girl know about safe sex and sex eduction & while making love
draws a line with valid point. The boy insists for marriage, for
which girl is ready but boy's father objects. Boy & girl go ahead &
get married.

Since boy's father do not approve marriage, boy decides to part away
from his family. Boy needs to do MBA for getting job, girl take up
the responsibility for earning by giving tutions.

They have to live in small apartment with minimum facility.

With the girl's support, boy clear his MBA & beg a decent job. Now
they shift to new house and enjoy comfortable living.

After some time, they tired of daily routine life and decided to add
some excitemnt by having a baby.

Unable to conceive, consults doctor. Medical reports indicates that
the girl is sufferring from cancer and very few months are left in her
life.

Boy get depressed, on doctors' advise decided to take best care of a
girl and fulfill her all wishes / desires.

He takes loan from his father, take a months' leave from job and
headed for vacations to Kerala. Though he wanted to take her abroad
but on girl's insistence, they goes to Kerala.

They spent quality time and enjoy every bit of moments.

After some days, girl feels weak and she tell the boy that she knows
that she is having cancer. She also tells that she is not depressed
or worried rather she wanted to live every moment of her remaining
life.

Her only wish is that boy should take care of her father, unite with
his family and remarry.

In the end she takes the promise from the boy and leaves, boy unite
with his family.

The film was infamous due to n number of smooching scenes between the
lead pair, however, such scenes are become part of the film only both
are married and when the girl is terminally ill.

The script and dialogues are very good. There are senes which
highlights the need of sex education and its importance.

The film's publicity was focussed on sex term only rather than its
interesting story and contents.

If the film wouldn't have got the negative publicity, it could have
been one of the good films for mature audience.

Oh... i want you to guess the film and write on the comment part.. i
will publish the winners' name.

Movie Review - Roman Holidays

Roman Holiday is a 1953 romantic comedy directed and produced by William Wyler and starring Gregory Peck and Audrey Hepburn. Hepburn won an Academy Award for Best Actress for her performance; the screenplay and costume design also won. - - wikipedia

It is a story of a princess accidentally taking a day off :in disguise" out of her busy political schedule, in the street of rome.

The press reporter accompanies her with a intention to get sensational story. He also called up his photographer friend for evidence.  The joy ride started to roll, from a hair cut to hotel, scooter ride to accidents, party on a ship deck and fight with police.  Princess lives of the day the way she wants and reporter remains her partner through out.

Ultimately both fell in love but princess has to return leaving him alone.

Next day on press meet, both meet but as a stranger.

Only their eyes do talking , it acknowledge the previous day, love, sorry and lastly says good bye.

The chemistry & acting of lead pair is good and screen play & direction is fantastic.

I love the movie very much for its simplicity & non filmy end.

Film Review - The Dirty Picture

One of the highest grosser film of the year 2011.

There is only one hero in this film i.e. Vidya Balan.

If dialogues & screen play can be considered as characters then both
of them are best supporting actors of the movie.

From the first frame till the last, the film keeps on giving shockers.

The story is simple, a village girl runs away from her village to
reach Chennai with a dream to become a film star. By dodging obstacles
and with her sex appeal, she sizzles on silver screen and became the
biggest star.

However lack of recognition from society, her family & friends and
lack of support from her boy friend, her actiong career go hay-wire.
Inspite of her desparate efforts she loses her position and ultimately
ends her life.

The dialogues and scene picturisation is superb and worth watching.

Though vulgarity & nudity was the subject, director was able to divert
the attention to the acting ability of leading lady and her sad story.

Must see for matured audience.
