Film : Italian Job

As I have decided to write my observation / comments / review on books & films, I am full on to BOOKS, watching MOVIES on DVD recommended movies by my friends.

I am still skipping some of the movies that I have recently seen viz.

Delhi 6 ( I don’t want to write bad review about a film made with genuine efforts but lost somewhere)
Slumdog Millionaire ( So much written about this film so not to waste myself)
Khoobsurat ( I have no capacity to write review which will convincingly tell my feelings, it is very feel good, family oriented, stress buster & well meaning movie. Must see for all).
Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi ( I don’t feel to write anything about this movie, however music is good, specially the title song).

Now move on to English Movies I have seen, it includes 300, Darknight (Batman), Exorcism, Italian Job, Red Eyes, Ocean 11, Ocean 12 etc..

I am inclined to write review of Italin Job & Ocean Series, for 300 I have already written, & others will do on their merits.

First,

Italian Job,

This is movie about 6 thieves leaded by Charlie, the planner. One is dashing driver, one computer expert, one explosive expert, one master key-man (who can decode any locks) & one smart guy.

They plan to break the treasury full of gold bricks. The planning made by Charlie to the minute details & for each & every movements. They do successfully & their tricks to fool policy guys are awesome. However their joy of success vanish as that smart guy double cross them & take away all the money. He also tries to kill all but only one person i.e. master key-man got killed.

After 2/3 years, the same gang found out the smart guy & with the help of daughter of master key-man, plan to rob the smart guy.

It involves meticulous planning & they are against the person who knows their moves. All plans get tumbled down, again re-plans, new plans & lots of action…

The movie is good as far as action & tricks shown. I like the movie but not that much…

Book Review – To Kill A Mocking Bird

Book Review – To Kill A Mocking Bird

By Harper Lee

This book is really Timeless Classic of Growing up & The Human Dignity That Unites Us All. It was first published in 1960 & went to win the Pulitzer prize in 1961 & was later made into an Academy Award winning film, also a classic.

The author has set the background of the story in silent sleepy Southern Town of America. The story is about two children James & Jean Louise.

The story captures the growing up years of above two children. Their mother died early so their father Mr.Atticus is taking care of them.

The book gradually develops the story & introduce us the entire neighborhood one by one. Story takes us to Jean & James changing perceptions & attitudes over a period. Both had very good bonding.

Mr. Atticus (Father) was lawyer & destined to fight a case of Negro. At that time, any one helping / defending Negro was improper & against the socially accepted norms. He was inviting disgrace from all his relatives & friends. However major task for him was to help innocent Negro & also make sure that all these cheap talks, because of his stands, do not harm the children.

James & Jeans were taunted by schoolmates, relatives & nearby persons as their father is Negger loving (i.e. Helping Nego). He asked them to held your head high & ignore all this.

Mr. Atticus was learned man & take utmost care that his children do not learn bad things / manner / wrong notion. He can freely be approached by his child for all types of queries / questions. At one place, his tiny daughter asks him “What does rape means?”. He answered all their queries in dignified & understanding way. He handled them well too. He lives the life by example for his child.

The story have suspense, racism problem, tales of heroic & grit along with valuable lessons of human behavior during emergency times. It also rewind our childhood memories of adventures, revolt, fears of unknown places etc. etc.

I like the book very much, it helped me to understand lots of things about my behavior & to look at broad prospective of situations.

With love,

Khushal

Book Review - Mera Sangharsh - Hindi Translation of "Mein Kampf"

Book Review – Mera Sangharsh (in Hindi)
Hindi Translation of Mein Kamph - Autobiography of Mr. Adolf Hitlar

By – Dr.. N. L. Madan, MA, Phd.

I have read quite a few translated books & noticed that it lacks the impact of original book.

As far as this book is concern, I must say that Dr. N. L. Madan have very good command of Hindi language & his job of translation of this book is excellent.

The book is autobiography of Adolf Hitlar. It is account of his childhood to formation & struggling years of his political outfit. The book is voluminous it took lot of time to read. I was also not aware about the then political & historical background of the Germany & some of the information / details mentioned were could not be comprehended by me. Wherever Hitlar justifies his thought patterns & pen downs his thoughts considering the prevalent circumstances & future stands, it is delight to read.

He was very clear in his thoughts & firm on his stands. He had all the qualities of leadership & he was driven my the sole purpose of reviving the lost glory of Germany. He was ready to sacrifice everything & nation was above everything for him. He was also very critical about parliament governing the nation & was also not believed in Democracy too.

His thoughts like Jews were responsible for failure of Germany (he has theory for the same), Marxism is threat to nation, Germans are only having pure blood, no mixing of pure blood with inferior blood, to prosper means to conquer the World by War etc. etc. are deep rooted in his heart.

These are the same reasons, which influenced his life’s future deeds and the rest is history as we know.

The book comes to end where his political outfit is gaining the momentum & ultimately German ruling bodies ban his outfit.

I could gather & understand the book only because of the good translation & I have never felt that any impact is lost. I like to praise once again Dr. N. L. Madan for his marvelous work.

As the book says, the reason for translation of this book is not to highlight the shortcomings of Hitlar. The book is to showcase that he was true lover of his motherland & highly motivated for betterment of his Nation. His burning desire to do anything for Nation & wiliness to sacrifice for noble cause is what India & Indian People needs to understand. This may lead to motivate us to place our Nation above everything.

FASHION - Film Review

Film Review – Fashion

Directed by Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar

Main Cast : Ms.Priyanka Chopra, Ms. Kangna Ranawat, Ms.Mugdha Godse

Mr. Madhur Bhandarkar is one of the finest director of Mumbai Film Industry. (I don’t’ use the word - Bollywood).

His first movie was Trishakti (Badly Flopped), then came, Chandani Bar toplining Tabu (It was huge hit), then I think Satta (Ravina Tondon), Page 3 (Konkana Sen Sharma), Corporate (Bipasha Basu), Traffic Signal ( Kunal Khemu, Neetu Chandra). In between one action flick with Akshay Kumar – Aan –Men at Work (flopped) was also came.

He is talented & handled women centric movie very well.

His recent movie “Fashion” is shown that he is guru in this field.

Fashion is not the story about fashion or glamour world. It is the story of Meghna Mathur, a small town girl who wants to conquer Glamuor Hub Mumbai & to become a Model .. no Super Model. The story moves with her journey from bottom to top & again nose-diving to bottom in the fashion world. The story gets progressive when same girl try to make come back.

The movie depicts the small town girl with attitude & luck climbs up the ladder of success & how her attitude turns to arrogance & ultimately her failure & exit from the fashion world. Whilst making comeback she have to struggle more hard than the earlier.

Ms Priyanka Chopra plays the character of Meghna, alongwith her, Ms. Kangan Ranawat dons the character of Ex Super Model & Ms. Mughda Godse (debuting from modeling to Films) as struggling model. Ms. PC has done good job & delivery her performance with ease. But the Ms. KR steals the show. Her characterization & acts is too good. For Ms. MG, considering her first movie, looks good & promising.

I would like to make special mention of the music of the film. As compared to Mr. Madhur Bhandarkars’ earlier movies, this movies music is very good, all the songs like Jalwa, Fashion Ka Hain Yeh Jalwa, Mar Jawa Meet Jawa, Kuch Khas Hain. I like the music very much. The music is composed by Mr. Salim Suleiman duo.

This movie is schedule to telecast on TV – UTV Movies most probably this week end,

See it & enjoy, ( However beware UTV Movies drags last portion of movie too much),

Film Review - "300"

Film Review – 300

This is the bang on movie.

I have read the review of this movie in Gujarati Paper. The writer was very amused by movie & applauded very much. I thought I should see the movie.

At that time, movie was out of theater & only recourse left was to see in DVD. I have recently purchased DVD player & was trying to get the DVD of “300” from my friend but of no use. My friend Prasad was also floored by the movie & strongly recommended me to see that movie.

One fine evening ultimately I purchased a DVD which contained 5 movies, one was “300”.

This long wait has increased by expectations from the movie.

The same night, I have seen this “Jabardast movie”. The movie is marvelous & worth seeing.

This is the story from ancient Europe and about SPARTIAN. Spartians are the people who are known for their bravery. At the time of birth of new child, if he/she is not perfect, they killed them. Each & every child of spartian goes through rigorous training & become the perfect warrior. The warrior, who will never run away from the battleground, never will bent their knees against the rivals. They will kill or be killed.

The movie is about 300 spartians fighting against lacs of soldiers. They chalked out such a perfect plan to counter the rivals that only 300 spartians keeps on killing lacs & lacs of rival soldiers.

The action, editing, photography, story narration, styling of the movie is at its best.

I do not know the lead actors but their performance where up to the mark.

I can write lot about the movie but to understand its impact you have to see the movie. Those who have seen this movie will agree with me.

I am planning to see movie once more.

This is must see for all people except those who do not like action flicks & / or war movie showing killings all over.

Book Review - One Night @ call center

One Night @ the call Center

By Chetan Bhagat

This book is the second book of Mr. Chetan Bhagat, his previous one titled “Five Point Someone”.

His first book was based on IIT Campus, for 2nd book he has taken the story premises based on call center.

I like the story & the concept. Even if the things illustrates in the book is imaginary but situations are too real. We can identify with the characters.

As story goes, this is about group of call center guys n gals, earning hefty but not satisfied with the way their life is going on. Each one has his / her own sad story. All the hell broke loose, when on that particular night each & every persons meet with rejection / disappointment / frustration. Every body had a bad night that day. To make the situation worse their sumo (while they are out of their center -"without permission") lands on pit of under construction building & just about to fall down deep. All were almost preparing for their end. At such time, guess who, GOD calls them.

I will not like to kill the interest by revealing further, please help your self by reading the book.

I am only skeptical about the entire episode of authors’ prologue & Epilogue. I am sure all these things are fantasy. In any case, author has genuinely put his efforts to built it up.

Further I am very thankful to the person who has given me this book to read. After reading the book I found new confidence about my writing. I have my own doubts about my writing but after reading this book I dared to think that I can pull it through.

Wish me best luck,

With love,

Khushal

Book -The Thousand Splendid Suns

The Thousand Splendid Suns

- Khaled Hossein

I once again want to thank my colleague for giving me nicest books to read,

This book is based on the backdrop of disturbed Afghanistan. The story revolves in the era of Pre-Taliban period, Taliban dominated Afganistan period & current states i.e. US invaded times.

The story has two main characters Mariam & Laila.

Mariam born with a harami tag, suffers all types of known pains during her life. There is hardly any moment when she is really happy. Her happy moments are the moments she accepted as happy moments but as such there is no joy in her life. I really felt sorry for her character. God has given her choicest problems to suffer in her entire life.

Laila also get in troubled times but her life do not start with bad things. She had education, lover, loving father & determination. She also tastes pain, as she was a woman living in Afganistan in taliban dominance.

The destiny holds the premises where both find anger & ultimately solace with each other.

It is true that in war, whoever wins but “WOMEN” always loose. However when war is within the country, not only WOMEN but children also loose.

The story is very neatly told & at times tastes your ability to digest pains.

The story is very gripping & it was very hard for me to leave the book down.

Once I started reading book, I was always wondered how it will end. The end is very good & shows hope for future.

I like the book & concept,

With love,

Book - “KNOW THYSELF”

“KNOW THYSELF”
by Shri G. K. Pradhan

Some of the books are prized possessions. Know Thyself is one of such book. I really enjoy the reading of this book & I must confess that I will not part away with this book (if that is not possible then I will buy new one).

The book start with train journey, of 6 different persons from Delhi to Mumbai. The six persons were one lawyer (author), businessman, Professor, Principal (lady), Father (Christian Priest) & Swamiji.

Swamji, the enlightened soul, preaches on various subjects, clear doubts on various universal problems of fellow passengers. Their journey towards self-realization does not end with the train journey. They meet again for further teachings from Swamji.

The main core or thought of the book is the title itself.

Swamiji emphasized, on understanding “oneself”, instead of following any religion, guru or japp, procedures etc.

I am proud to admit that I could not get 1% of the book. We have to read between the lines to understand the message. I know I am not at stage to understand the smallest point of the great thoughts. Still I feel somewhere in my heart I got some hint. I am sure that over a period when I become more mature / aware I could at least understand some part.

It is must read for all, it is beneficial & thought provoking.

Tejasvi Man – Mahashakti Bharat ki Nivn

Tejasvi Man – Mahashakti Bharat ki Nivn

Author – Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam
Hindi Transalation : - Shri Arun Tiwari

I am lucky that I am living in the era where Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, can share his thoughts, visions & guide us for betterment of ourselves & our country.

Long back I have read one book authored by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, “Agni Pankh” & recently I have read (in Hindi) “Tejasvi Man – Mahashakti Bharat Ki Nivn”.

The book “Tejasvi Mann” is honest attempt of author to guide the young generation of our country to make our India, Developed nation by 2020. The book is dedicted to 12th standard girl Snehal Thakkar, who has raised the fundamental question of “who is our enemy?”.

The book comprises of various experiences of author, his thoughts with relation to education, religion, politics, our strength, challenges ahead & our ability to realize the goal.

I am too little a person to comment about this book. However I believe that I can write my feelings that occurred to me while reading the book.

With due respect to his writing & intentions, I feel somewhere the message is lost. The message is not clear, the book is missing something may be a link between the chapters. Too much subjects are attempted & does not ended with its impact. It may possible that the book is originally written in English & whilst translated in Hindi, somewhere get out of the track. I do not intend find any fault with translation but I still feel that the book is lacking its impact.

I may be wrong & dumb enough to comprehend the book, but this is what I felt,

Oh, last but not the least, I would like to read following books, listed by author as references: -

(please don’t’ mind spelling mistakes if any, as the list was given in Hindi)

- “India 2020 – A vision for the New Millenium” – Shri A P J Kalaam & Shri Y S Rajan, Wiking 1998
